What happened that day?
- From the low on 10 March 2009 to the high on 5 April 2010, the Nikkei rose 60.73% over 260 trading days
- That low was also the bottom of the entire lost decades — back at 1982 levels
- Central banks everywhere cut to near zero and supplied money at once, and world markets rose together
- In Japan, reviving Chinese demand brought orders back to machinery and materials companies
- Much of the move was simply undoing the fall, though. Even this high did not reach 2007 levels
- The run ended with the European debt crisis and a strengthening yen
