What happened that day?
- Monday, 10 March 2025 — the Nasdaq fell 4.00%, its worst day since 2022
- In a weekend interview the president, asked about a recession, called it a 'period of transition' and did not rule one out
- Until then the market had read tariffs as a negotiating tool. Read instead as something to push through even at a cost to growth, the premise changed
- That afternoon came word there was no room left in tariff talks with the two neighbouring countries, and selling piled into the final hour
- The flagship AI-chip stock fell hard and technology led the decline
- The index was already more than ten percent below its February high; this session confirmed the correction
- The slide ran to 8 April, 24.32% below the December 2024 high
