What happened that day?
- On 9 April 2025 the Nasdaq rose 12.16% in a single day
- The day before, 8 April, was the low of the tariff-shock decline
- The reason was the US announcing a 90-day pause on its reciprocal tariffs. China was excluded, which meant the fight between the two largest economies was untouched
- Tech is the most exposed to tariffs because parts and assembly span many countries — and so it reacted most to the pause
- Steep falls in the preceding days made the bounce larger still
- The rebound carried on and the old high returned on 27 June
